the psalms reimagined for emotionally honest worship
Two new releases for the season. Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation for Emmanuel, God with us, and Christmas is the celebration of our savior’s arrival that brings joy and hope to the whole world.
Wendell Kimbrough is a singer/songwriter whose Psalm-based music is sung by churches around the world. Through his songs, Wendell seeks to create safe space for the whole range of human experience, from joyful celebration to honest lament. He’s a frequent collaborator with other musical artists, including the Porter’s Gate, Graham Kendrick, Taylor Leonhardt, Paul Zach, Page CXVI, Sandra McCracken, and Caroline Cobb.
After 17 years as a worship leader at churches large and small in DC, Alabama, and Dallas, Wendell is currently expanding his vocational journey studying in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, where he lives with his wife Hahna and two daughters.
In 2020, Wendell began recording and releasing a new song every month to supporters on Patreon. Learn more about the project by clicking the button below.
“What makes Wendell fairly unique are three things: his use of scriptural texts for his lyrics; his tunes which are extremely useful for congregational singing; and his approach in concert, which involves teaching God’s people the music to sing. Our people were thrilled to sing these songs, not just on the night of the concert, but subsequent in our gathered worship services.”
